This leg of the journey goes from Monteluco to Trevi and, after the effort of recent days, is decidedly easier: some 30 kilometres with a modest 350 metre total climb. The only real ascent of the day is the final one to get to the top of Trevi, but it neither long nor especially steep. Leave Monteluco and enjoy 7 kilometres of downhill to get back to the centre of Spoleto and then, via a series of connecting roads, to the main Spoleto-Assisi cycle route.The route offers many kilometres of quiet and peaceful cycling far from traffic and surrounded by lovely views of the Valley of Umbria, with the towns of Poreta, Pissignano and Montefalco watching over you in the distance. It ends when you reach the feet of Trevi, the start of the day’s climb which goes from Bovara all the way into the heart of the historical centre of town.It is not a hard climb and you will be surrounded by lovely olive groves and some truly magnificent views. Before you start the ascent you might want to make a small detour to see the ages-old Fonti di Clitunno water springs, a peaceful and quite place to take a break. Once you have reached Trevi you will be regaled with splendid panoramic views, including one of Assisi, tomorrow’s destination, in the distance.
