Agricollina – Hill Farming Machinery, Livestock and Farmyard Animals Fair
Montecastrilli, during the weekend preceding April 25, hosts Agricollina, a trade fair dedicated to hill farming machinery, livestock and farmyard animals, an event that for more than fifty-five years has attracted thousands of visitors to the fairgrounds, including farmers, enthusiasts and families.
The event is organised across two main exhibition pavilions. The first, located near the Service Center buildings, hosts exhibitors presenting agricultural machinery and equipment from the sector. The second pavilion is dedicated to agricultural products, items related to animal care and breeding, and a livestock area featuring animals connected to local rural traditions.
Inside the Service Center, the Salone dei Sapori hosts more than twenty stands presenting local agri-food specialties, complemented by a range of food trucks located in the outdoor areas.
The origins of the event date back to the early 1950s, when the parish priest of Montecastrilli, Don Antonio Serafini, promoted a thanksgiving celebration to bless the new agricultural machines that were transforming farming practices. In the following years, the blessing was preceded by a procession through the town streets led by an image of the Madonna.
By the mid-1950s the initiative evolved into a real exhibition known as the Tractor Festival, accompanied by a traditional tavern serving local dishes. As the event grew, in 1982 the fair moved to the current exhibition area. In 1986 an association was created to manage the Hill Agricultural Machinery and Farmyard Animals Fair. Since 2000 the event has been known as Agricollina, becoming one of the most established agricultural events in the region.
